Photographing Sitters & Toddlers
You can choose to have these images taken indoors or outdoors. However, considering their sleep schedules, I’ve found that capturing these images immediately after a nap often means the outdoor lighting isn’t as flattering. Therefore, I typically recommend indoor sessions for the best and most comfortable experience for children up to the age of 2.
These sessions are designed to be ‘speedy’. Your toddler’s attention span may last around 30-40 minutes for their session, during which I’ll work swiftly to capture as many smiles and emotions as possible. There will also be ample time for cuddles and milk breaks between snapping away, ensuring that both you and your toddler feel relaxed and at ease throughout the session.
Indoor sessions provide a controlled environment where we can optimize lighting and temperature to ensure your toddler’s comfort. Plus, it allows for a cozy and intimate atmosphere, perfect for capturing those tender moments between you and your little one.
Whether it’s capturing their giggles or their sweet expressions as they drift off to sleep, indoor sessions offer a relaxed setting where we can focus on creating beautiful memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Hunting for that elusive perfect angelic snapshot of your child sitting serenely and beaming at the camera, is every parent’s dream. You might pretend you don’t care, but let’s be real—every time I manage to snap that pic, it’s like hitting the jackpot.
However, let’s face it, kids are chaos incarnate. They’ve got the attention span of Dory from “Finding Nemo,” and whatever grand plans you had for your photo session, they’ve probably already changed their nap time, scratched their face, or, heaven forbid, after careful planning, booking plane tickets and travelled from Melbourne to Sydney, and acquired a black eye from a hotel door handle mishap just before the shoot. (Yep, that actually happened.)
So, kiss your expectations goodbye—toss ’em out like yesterday’s leftovers. It’s akin to having a birth plan, it’s just not gonna go down as you envisioned. But fear not! That doesn’t mean your photos won’t be absolute stunners.
Kids will not flash a smile in every single frame. It’s just not in their DNA, and the more people you cram into the shot, the slimmer the chances of everyone grinning in sync in the same direction.
Ah, the chaotic charm of your family! It’s like a circus, complete with quirks, craziness, and always someone that really doesn’t want to have photos.
But fear not, I’m here to immortalize your clan just as they are. Sure, I’ll give it my all to nail that “perfect shot” for you, and more often, I succeed. But let’s be real, if every frame was flawless, where’s the spice? Where’s the personality?

Children’s Photography FAQs
Your session can be in our studio or at a location of your choice (travel fees may apply.) The Studio has sourced gorgeous local areas for outdoor sessions.
You are invited to bring favourite items that your child loves to help relax them, whether it be a toy, book, or favourite music.
Ensuring harmony in your clothing selection is crucial for achieving the desired look and vibe in your photos. This doesn’t imply wearing identical outfits; rather, it involves coordinating colors thoughtfully. I recommend opting for a palette of approximately four colors and maintaining consistency with textures while keeping patterns to a minimum (perhaps with the exception of mum’s dress?). Also, take into account the setting where your portraits will be displayed as this will influence the ideal color scheme.
The Studio will provide a style and color guide a few weeks ahead of your session to assist you in selecting complementary colors and ensuring coherence in your outfits. This guide proves invaluable in guaranteeing timeless, successful photos that will last.
The best time to photograph you & your family depends on your family routine. With younger children and babies, it is best to photograph them when they have had a good night’s sleep, fed and happy, which is usually in the morning.
If the shoot is on location or outdoors, the time of the shoot will highly depend on the main light source – the sun. Location shots are best done in the last couple of hours before the sun goes to sleep.
There are multiple packages to choose from to suit your budget and needs, the USB packages include your session fee, time and talent of photographer, personalised order meeting after your session, and a selection of your favourite images chosen, fully retouched.

Approximately 1-2 weeks after your shoot, we will arrange a suitable time for a personalised order meeting, this meeting can be finalised in personal or via Zoom.
Natalie can also assist you in your choice of display options, including photo albums or canvas prints for your home.
