The New Studio

August 15, 2016

Well, this was a surprise, a pleasant one, but a surprise none the less.

Taking you back to how it started, my husband and I were sitting out the back of our Glenmore Park home on 27 December when he was looking and drooling over the homes you just can’t afford on realestate.com.

He turned to me and showed me this gorgeous amazing house.  My instant reply was ‘nope, I don’t want to look at it’.

Well after giving in, I realised and saw what he saw, we agreed to go ‘check it out’ with no real interest in buying it.  We were settled, we’d paid off our mortgage and we were happy.  But…..

But….. clearly, the universe had other plans for us.  After seeing the home, we realised it truly was our ‘forever home’, the one we have always dreamed out, we’d always wanted a federation home with a wrap around veranda and a large yard.  This property seriously ticked off everything on our list.

So without a loan, without even sniffing out the idea of selling our two properties, finding an agent or even finding out what they were worth, we put in an offer.

We then headed to Fiji, which was a pre-arranged holiday. Our offer was rejected and so we put in another, and another.  It was like a little game of roulette, wondering what number if at all, they’d accept.

After a bit of back and forth, they accepted our final offer, we couldn’t believe it. Here we were lying on a beach, in another country and we just bought a house!

The enormity of what happened sunk in straight away, there was no celebration as we had a bigger issue, we needed finance (during the holiday season is crazy) and we needed to sell two homes, one being the previous Studio (at the worst time of the year).

Well, I don’t know how we coped and did it all, I think it all came down to organisation, but we did.  We sold two homes for record prices and moved both properties including large photographic sets on the one day.

We absolutely nailed the move, it was stress-free and went like clockwork.  It was hard work, very hard work. Long long hours but it was well worth it.

And after 3 weeks of tradies and hours and hours of painting, the Studio was up and running.

Thank you to all our friends who helped us along the way and to all the tradies who turned up on time and got stuck into it.
