Newborn photography is a beautiful memento of your precious little baby, snuggled in natural fabrics, capturing their peacefulness as they curl into their adorable baby poses. With every click of the camera, these fleeting moments become timeless treasures, preserving the innocence and wonder of infancy for generations to come. It’s a celebration of new beginnings, a testament to the unconditional love that fills the air whenever you gaze upon your newborn’s portrait.
Your session will usually start with family and sibling photos (if they are included in your purchased package).
Following this, we kindly request that someone collects the other children (or dad can take them for a drive or to the park) so the Studio can focus on finalizing your newborn session, which may take up to 3 hours.
All props and wraps for newborn sessions are provided by the Studio, no need to bring anything for your baby, but you are more than welcome to.
Depending on your package purchased, your session will consist of up to 4-5 set ups, usually this is a variety of bowls, buckets, baskets and the cute little beds we have in the Studio. Your colours for your session will be chosen by yourself on the booking form and you are also welcome to request a certain prop that you adore.
It is requested that you please bring a dummy and extra milk (especially if you are still trying to tackle breastfeeding). Working with a hungry baby or one that wants to ‘suckle’ is challenging and I always want to ensure they are comfortable and relaxed.
Newborn Photography FAQs
Howe Studios highly recommends having your newborn photographed within the first 2 weeks of your baby’s life. This is when their newborn moments and poses are at their best.
It is also when they are at their most flexible and usually prior to any colic or baby pimples developing.
If you’re planning to have photographs taken with your newborn along with siblings, it’s advisable to think about your color palette. These photos aim to be timeless, and choosing clothing that reflects this will greatly enhance their longevity. Mothers are encouraged to borrow from our selection of dresses at the studio, and we also provide a small range of clothing options for infants (1-18 months) as well as dresses ranging from sizes 1 to 6/7. If you’re considering this option, please reach out to the studio beforehand to ensure that the sizes, colors, and choices available align with your preferences.
We urge you to book a date while you are in your second trimester. Pre-booking secures your newborn session and allows the Studio to put your due date in the diary and prepare for your newborn session.
Once your baby is born, it is important that you contact the Studio within the first 48 hours to finalise your session date and time.
Newborn photography sessions last between 2-3 hours.
Yes. If you would like an older sibling photographed with your newborn, they are welcome to attend the first 15mins of the session to capture those photos.
After this time, you will need to arrange for someone to come and collect them, so we can finalise the newborn session, as a lot of time and patience is required.
The Simple Session is $450, the Deluxe Session is $950 and the Luxury Session which includes ALL the photos is only $1450.
Your proof gallery will be ready within 1-2 days after your session, it will be available for you to make your selection from, for 10 days, after you have finalised your selection, the Studio will then retouch and edit those images for you and deliver usually within 2-5 days.
Natalie can also assist you in your choice of display options, including photo albums or canvas prints for your home.
